Papers of the Baylor family [manuscript], 1662-1867.

Include land grants, deeds, wills, indentures, bills, receipts (some for taxes) and surveys, 1662-1813, of family members; and some family correspondence, 1820-1867, chiefly on business, agricultural, and financial matters. Also include ledger, 1746-1749, of Richard Baylor containing accounts with many prominent Virginians including Landon Carter, Charles Carter, Thomas Lee, Fielding Lewis, Philip Lightfoot, Thomas Nelson, William Nelson, Lawrence Washington, John Wayles and Ralph Wormeley. Also include ledger, 1815-1818, of a merchant in Essex County, Va.; and a journal, 1844-1849, of Richard Baylor on settling the estate of Robert P. Waring of Essex County, including slave inventories and valuations and livestock.
